Caption What? - writercize #135

If a picture is worth one thousand words, can you pare it down the best dozen or so to describe it?  Today, I invite you to give it a try!

writercize:  Using the photo below as inspiration, compose a caption.

Need a genre?  Why not pick from one (or more) of the following: science fiction, comedy or mystery?  Or stick with straight journalism.

writercizer sample response:

Georg could no longer move, his upper limbs frozen in place by the quick sand that had sucked his lower half into the earth, but as long as his eyes could tear he held on to the hope that one day he would be rescued.

  1. That is a very strange picture and I'm not even sure what it is, but I'll go with this:

Strange sculptures of unknown origin have been appearing under bridges throughout the city.

  2. I'm not sure what to do with this photo, but here's taking a stab at the writercize:

Even vandals want to claim the city's scariest landmark but the whereabouts of the original artist and his or her inspiration for such a piece remains unknown.

  3. "Troll Under the Bridge" is Jacques Dupoin's first sculpture after escaping the mental ward and starting his life as vagrant on the mean streets of L.A.

  4. Oh my, Yes! How did I not know that?! I think one of my school teachers may have covered this when I was a kid. It is nuts, how much of our formal education we leave behind, as adults.

Good thing you've provided a refresher course, lol.

  5. Haha - funny takes!

The photo is of a troll that lives under a bridge in the Fremont district in Seattle - I have no idea of the history of it, but it's a fun little (BIG!) tourist thing to visit if you're ever there. You can just make out the tires and the bumper of a real VW bug, to give you an idea of the massive size of the thing. It's cool because you can interact with it, climb all over it, take photos, chat with anyone else looking at it ... good way to spend a half hour or so in Seattle.

(Plus, it's under a bridge, so even if it's raining - you'll stay dry!)

  6. That's probably the coolest thing I'll ever see under a bridge!
