Round-About - writercize #AtoZChallenge 3.18

Please note: writercize (a portmanteau of write and exercise with a z for ... a twist? fun? street cred?) is participating in the A to Z Challenge through the month of April with alphabetical writing prompts. I'm skipping the stories behind the prompts so you can spend more time practicing and less time reading! Please participate, and enjoy!

writercize: Bring your writing full circle. Begin and end a story or poem with the same word.

Pick one of the following or use your own:

  • reindeer
  • ladybird
  • memory
  • angel
  • queen
  • crowd
  • crutch
  • mat

(Today's words come from Creativity Games' random word generator.)

I love reading your comments and especially your writercize results, so please, drop me a line to let me know if this worked for you! Better yet, share your attempt with the world in your comment!

And, if you let me know you stopped by, I will be sure to pay you a visit as soon as I am able!

writercizer sample response:

"Memory serves no purpose. It is there to tie you to the past, to hold you back, to keep you from focusing on your true potential, your best future. I can help you. I can erase your memory. Try it. Free yourself! In only five minutes, right here, I will erase a month of memories. Imagine your worst experiences gone, no trace of the pain or confusion. Ban memory!" the hypnotist shouted at the "Building a Better Me" seminar.

"Look at this nut job," Melody snickered to her friend. "Erasing memories. Isn't that what causes us trouble to start with? A refusal to remember the implications of our actions based on past consequence? And what about what doesn't kill you makes you stronger? What about being a better person by facing down our memories and overcoming them. And ... How does he do it? With a swinging yoyo and some incense? Oooooh - 'now you remember nothing. You are free!' To forget where you left your car, and your house and your friends... What a crock..."

"Mmmmm," muttered Anja, half-listening to Melody, floating towards the hypnotist, mesmerized by the idea of eliminating the worst days of her life.

"Young lady," he said as Anya approached. "I can see it. I see the darkness of memory. I see what it will do to your future. Are you ready to erase all of it and start anew?"

"Yes," Anya whispered. "Please, take it all away. Take away the memory."
